Mary Eileen McDonnell, born April 28th 1952 in the US, is a stage and film actress. She received the Academy Award nomination for her part as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is well-known for her portrayal of the President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica as the wife of President on Independence Day and for her leading role in Donnie Darko as the titular persona's mother.
